Been surfing the last 45 minutes and still can't find a damn thing online that gives an explanation. "Such-and-such number of people have a Blah-Blah tendon and Blah-Blah-Blah tendon which connect and therefore reduces independence of the first and second digits," etc.

I did, however, learn that tendons do tend to vary a bit, person to person, some tendons more than others.

My index finger does not seem to bend with my thumb at all. Maybe it's just a genetic variation since both you and your mother seem to have it?

Oh I just checked. Mine does!! Not much. I'd have to go back through the thread to find out how much your does. I'd say mine goes down about 30* when I bend my thumb.

Yeah, it's not considerable, but once my thumb gets to a certain point my index starts bending with it.

My finger bends when I try to bend the first joint of my thumb, I can't stop it from doing that. Oh, I just read that I have written this before.

But it's a really important topic and therefore repetition is okay.

My index slightly bends when I contract my thumb, though I can force it to stay extended to a degree.
