My daughter has a lot of rebelliousness - people keep telling me it is the age and I'm hanging on to that theory with every fiber of my being waiting until she grows out of it.

Some days are better than others. Sometimes it's just because she's tired. Others it's because she's PMSing. And other days, there's really no explanation for it. It just seems like her brain's changing a lot and her emotions can't keep up with it.

I do find that I can *usually* keep things calm by being careful about how I talk to her. I also have to realize that she's almost 12 and can make so many decisions on her own that I don't need to control (and I'm a bit of a control freak).

There are times that she's yelling and being frustrating, but her actual message is right and she's just delivering it in the wrong way. I have to take a step back and think objectively about her message and get past the delivery.

What about a compromise - you let her pick the outfit, but if it's cold, she always wears a jacket. And if it's hot, she always takes a water bottle.

I wear jeans in 110* weather too - it's hot as hell, but it's easier than shaving my legs. Maybe she has her own reasons.

I remember when I was in eighth grade, I wanted to wear blue jeans every day because that's what the other kids were wearing and I wanted to fit in, even though I didn't.

I only had two pairs of blue jeans, though. My aunt took me clothes shopping and bought those two pairs of jeans for me, because that's what I wanted.

So I wore them to school even though that meant I had to do my laundry every day.

My AS daughter (like her old man  ) likes to wear certain clothes over and over. And still does even though she is 18 now. It's always been a part of her nature. Tbh, most of my own AS nature I learned about because of her. A lot of times we compare notes and observations! :thinker:

Last night she picked out her pj's before her bath. Then when she came out to say goodnight, she was in different pj's. The ones she originally chose were on her top bunk. The top bunk has become a way station for unwanted clothes, which is part of the problem.

We talked last night and I finally got reasoning out of her on the skort vs jeans issue. She has gym everyday, and this teacher has them doing stuff like the crab walk. She pointed out that while her skorts technically have shorts inside, the shorts are loose, and so she feels exposed. Today she wore her bike shorts, which grip her legs. If she had pointed that out in the beginning..... Ugh!!

She does get to make her fair share of decisions, and she is learning that she has to live with the consequences also. Like last weekend, she chose to not do Friday's homework until Sunday. Turns out that meant she missed out on seeing a show she wanted to see, and she didn't have all that great a time with her "friend" (who I don't like but grin and bear it) Friday.

I'm glad the two of you had this talk and she finally explained her reasoning, Goddess.

First of all, Sophist, love the avatar/look. Very nice ;)

I do wish DD was more open with me. I don't know why she's not. We have conversation over the dinner table every single night. I've told her, since our chatn that I'd hope she'd come to me with anything....

Hubby has a job interview this week, so far only one. It's not for lack of trying.

My kindle e-book reader arrived from Amazon yesterday and I have downloaded some books and played around with it. It also has a text to voice option which I wasn't expecting, so if I'm too tired to prop myself up to read, I can have a book read to me. :D

Saw my new pulmonologist today, I really like and trust him - it helps he's pedantic LOL. I feel lost without having every bit of information so he put me at ease. He took a chest xray, and he pointed and explained everything. Basically it was perfect ;). Lungs, clear. Heart - not enlarged at all. He's redoing my sleep study next month and feels my ph is from sleep apnea and can be cured by curing my sleep apnea. We'll see.

So tonight I was helping DS with his biology homework, I was so surprised at how much of it came right back to me. Organic/inorganic, covalent and ionic bonds, it was fun helping him.

Do you wear a CPAP mask to sleep in, Goddess?

It's great that your heart and lungs are basically OK.

I don't use the cpap, but should. So he's doing the sleep study to help figure the settings.

Hubby has a job interview today, it's good job so fingers crossed!
