The Random Conversation Thread (for Casey)

Sounds to me like she was just being a very typical self-absorbed person not realizing others have an agenda to keep up with.

My mother is like that - loves to give useless information or advice that only serves to slow the flow of the day.

But I could be biased.

She is expecting another 20 inches of snow today, BTW.

Here's to her clearing the roof again.

Twenty inches?! Wow, don't think I've ever seen twenty inches of snow in one place in my life. We're lucky (or not, as everything in this city grinds to a halt) if we get three!

So how, exactly, does she clear it - does it involve climbing onto the roof?

We got about half a foot of snow. A blessed blessed winter storm. :D

Dammit. I wanna come live in your neck of the woods. I've never even had enough to build a proper snowman!

Seriously? Don't you live in Scotland? I thought you'd get enough snow to make a snowman!

Not where I live, unfortunately. If I was outside the city I'd be getting snow worthy of playing in, but where I am there's nothing but grey mush (there was, at one point, almost a whole inch of snow laying about three weeks ago, but then it rained) :(

Yep, my 78 year old mother gets up on the roof - of her two story colonial.

Meanwhile, I need to hold on to something to go up or down the step to my sunken living room

I moved from the Philadelphia area to Texas in part to escape the winter weather. I clearly didn't move far enough. It snowed here again today, another 2 inches. Exactly 2 weeks ago we got 4 inches, and that closed schools, city and county agencies, and screwed up the roads for 4 days.

Well naturally where I live it didn't snow today - it rained. Over the next week the forecast is rain with some snow, followed by rain

Lucky you :P

It's 14:00 here and I've been in work for way over five hours already. Work's surprisingly slow at the minute, so I actually finished everything needed for today by 09:30. I've been playing with the iPhone for hours now. I hate being bored, I truly do. I especially hate being bored when I'm limited in what I can do for entertainment (very limited 'net access here and I can't start reading books without poking the boss into a whining frenzy - he never gets his work done on time).

I lied. More snow last night and this morning. Classes canceled again. :woohoo:

Why doesn't that surprise me?

Of course, usually what that means, provided we're not utterly snowed in, is that Manny and I just get into work later.

Awwwwww :(

No snowmen? No snowball fights? No ice slides?! That's no fun at all - have a snow day and build a snowman for me :P
