nudity

Postby loborojo on Fri Dec 05, 2008 3:24 am

ever since my childhood I have the strong urge to be in the nude, I find that clothes hamper our nature of being normal. Yesterday again I had the urge to swim in the public swimming pool in my string, but I am in conservative catholic LAtin America. I dared to use it today in the sauna, and took of my swimming trunks so I could swim in my string.

How do apsies in general feel about nudity?

I think I will be careful how I respond, as I do not want to put images into people's heads or come across as rude. I also fear I may get a little too graphic for some in details, so if you are sensitive to this kind of thing then it may be wise to read no further.

However, I am fond of the freedom of nudeness, and I tend to sleep like that and spend a lot of the day at home (at least until I need to go out) without clothes on, and even in the evenings I may end up free from clothes. There is something free and liberating about it - not being restrained, but ultimately I am in the position to be able to do it as I live alone and away from intrusion.

As for public nudity, whilst I would have no objections to being nude in an open space, I would not want to be nude and in a position where someone else could see me or find me. I think it is a private thing for me, although I am able to keep my clothes on. That said I got into trouble at the start of summer for taking my shirt off at work (although I was in a secluded room) when I got too hot and overcome by dizziness, and near the end of summer I was on the far side of the local lake lying on the grass bank in the darkness looking up at the stars (and the occasional plane coming into land at the airport). It was about midnight, and still fairly warm, and it felt so natural and calm that I took off my t-shirt and trousers (I was wearing shorts as well, and although I wouldn't have objected to removing them I still new I was on the edge of a public footpath, and despite the incredibly small chance someone would walk by I would not put myself in that awkward situation. In some ways I was uneasy with the thought of being discovered as I was, so a few minutes later I put the trousers back on and felt more assured in my appearance if I was discovered. Anyway, it still felt I was part of the environment, and part of the universe - so insignificantly small on the wider scale. I cannot describe the feelings, but it was all very beautiful.

I've always lived with other people, so the option of no clothes was not and is not available to me. But if I lived alone I would certainly appreciate the freedom of not wearing clothes. I wouldn't go naked in public though, as in a nudist camp. I don't think I would want to look at other naked people either. In fact, I know I wouldn't. We have a trailer up in the mountains, completely remote and secluded. We have a neighbor down a hill and across the road which fronts our trailer, and another in the back, way far across a very large, rolling pasture. Once I sat in the back yard up there and read a book (not the whole book  ) with nothing on from the waist up. It was wonderful to feel the sun and summer breeze on my bare breasts. But I would have been horrified if someone was watching me with or without my knowledge. And it was hard for me to completely relax because I worried that someone might be in the patch of woods across the hayfield, looking at me with binoculars.

I think Europeans, especially the Mediterraneans are more relaxed with their bodies and are more realistic and accepting of the changes in the body that come with age than we in the US are. I base this opinion on my own observations gathered over the years on various seashore vacations that I have been on. I noticed that the European women do not let the effects of childbirth on their bodies keep them from wearing bikinis at the beach. I've also noticed this with Canadian women. Also, there are very few American (US) men who would go to the beach wearing the very tight brief swimwear (forget what it's called) that European men wear so naturally and unabashedly. The American men that I know personally always make fun of men in that type of suit, I'm sure it's due to insecurity. I always think the men in brief suits like that are attractive, not so much because of their physique, but because of their lack of modesty and their self confidence. American men mostly wear baggy or loose boxer type swim wear. I have never had the confidence in my body to wear a bikini and this has been a source of deep regret for me, even though I would never consider plastic surgery to enhance myself physically even if I could afford it. I would just like to appreciate and love my body for what it is, my body.

I think being naked in water would be a wonderful feeling and a liberating experience.

They are called swimmingtrunks, we have used it for as long as I can remember and why should we be abashed about it. It looks good, sexy (love the speedo) and it is aerodynamic. I hate the boxers, bermudas which aren't shorts or pants. It is all a hangup of showing your boady and oooooh, be afraid that someone might notice you have a bulge that says that you're a man. Unfortunately that beach fashion from the States has conquered the entire southern continent, and I was bold enough to wear my European swimwear. Needless to say how all the Chileans and Peruvians stared at me. SOme mockingly, some older women give me the thumb up. Mind you wearing a thong or a string in Rio would be asking for some queerbashing. Stupid machos...

For the first couple years of my life, it was hell trying to get me to wear anything more than diapers or underwear. However, after that point, once my parents finally won the Clothes War  I have always preferred wearing clothes and feel physically uncomfortable without them. Part of that is just shyness about my body, but part of that is I like to feel surrounded by something and clothes give me that sensation.

You wouldn't have liked getting a sunburn on your breasts if that was the first time they experienced the summer sun, so it's good that you didn't do it too long, anyway. I got sunburned breasts when I was a child and I have never forgotten it.

It is called skinny-dipping and it is, even if it is done in a private place at night so nobody else but your partner can see you.

My friend used a suntanning booth without a bra once and said the sunburn was one of the most painful experiences of her life.

DS has never been one to go without clothes, even as a young child. His fresh shirt had to be ready when the old one came off. Even recently, he had a rash on his back and I couldn't get him to take his shirt off to show me, just lift it. He barely cares to wear shorts, despite our high temps in the summer. DH is the same. It took me 5 years of marriage to get him into short sleeves! No nudists in this family for sure..... well, none of the auties...DD otoh, she'll wander down the hallway stark naked when we have company!! Another kind that one...

I feel more comfortable with clothes on than off and am rarely naked even when I'm on my own (shower/bath time being just about the only time I'm ever starkers).

My (non-autistic) cousin used to love not wearing clothes, though. He once went on a bouncy castle naked at a party when he was little. He'd not want to get dressed after being round someone's house in the pool and would go home naked/with just his pants on.

The forward slash means they are separate... different options to the end of the sentence, two different possibilities, two different (but regular in this case) events.

Put simply, just think of the / as the word 'or'.

The sentence could have been:

* He'd not want to get dressed after being round someone's house in the pool and would go home naked.
* He'd not want to get dressed after being round someone's house in the pool and would go home with just his pants on.

So... He'd not want to get dressed after being round someone's house in the pool and would go home naked/with just his pants on.

Which is sort of the same as saying... He'd not want to get dressed after being round someone's house in the pool and would go home naked OR with just his pants on.

But I prefer forward slashes because they sort of shorten the sentences (at least in the way I experience the sentences - different options instead of just a list?)...

There's probably a far less waffley way of describing it but there are so many examples I could use to show why I like forward slashes but I'm too tired to think of any.

...the very tight brief swimwear (forget what it's called) ...

In the Antipodes they are called "budgie smugglers" hilarious.

as for me... I wouldn't mind being naked by myself - but the closest I tend to get is just wearing minimal underwear around on days that it is practical, which is seldom. That's mostly because it is just more practical that way. But otherwise, around people, I generally wear trousers or floor or ankle length skirts, and tops with at least short sleeves. For a while as a teenager I only wore long sleeves, and also wore a bandanna or hat most of the time, and it took many years to be able to wear singlet tops or knee length skirts which are still kind of uncomfortable for me if others are around. I think this is partly because I don't know what is appropriate to wear so even if I feel like wearing it I don't know if I should, and also because I don't like people looking at me, and the less clothes you wear the more there is to see and the less hidden you are.
