I think the wolves are only firing rock salt to smart her a little. They are much more civilised and merciful than she gives them credit for.

I should probably mention that my last comment was a spoof off a commercial that aired before and after the Biden-Palin debates in which Palin is reported to support the hunting of wolves (from helicopters no less) and offers a reward (I think it's $50) if you bring back the paw of a wolf you shot.

I saw that commercial....it was more of an infomercial LOL

I really think it will be the moose that does her in though. Turnabout is fair play you know!

Makes me think of those little figurines that sell in some of those novelty magazines where the deer is carrying back the hunter on the roof of its car.

So what DO the presidential and vice-presidential candidates do if they don't win? Here, the parties that don't win can still get into parliament and be part of "the Opposition". God knows what THEY actually do, but they're in parliament so they still have something to do even though they lost (although, not all of them - obviously the loosing people have less people in parliament than the winning people, because the way you win is by having more people in parliament. In actual case, no one "wins" it's just that someone needs to get some kind of majority in order to get confidence and supply - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confidence_and_supply)

McCain is still a US senator and Palin is still the governor of Alaska.

oh right, yeah, I kind of forgot about them being senators and governors - now that I think about it I'm not even sure what either of those positions is
At the moment, I'm trying to work out what is the equivalent of parliament, and if a senator is like an MP.
We don't have an upper or lower government anything either.
I'm thinking there are pretty much NO direct analogies between the USA and the NZ systems of government, which is kind of surprising because you sort of expect these things to be the same.
Unfortunately, people here suspect that the elections here are being influenced by the USA presidential election and turning into a potential prime minister vs. potential prime minister race, whereas actually it's party vs party and the party can change it's leader and thus the prime minister once it's in.

Edit: Parliament is made up of the house of representatives and the queen, but most people call the house of representatives "parliament"
