Neurological Gait Keepers

Postby renaeden on Fri Oct 24, 2008 3:07 pm

Researchers are now employing new techniques to provide 3D analysis of the gait to unravel differences in underlying brain function between children with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.

As GA said, "Catalyst rules".

I don't really see how people can tell an odd Asperger's indicative gait just by looking, if that boy was an example of it. It didn't seem that strange. If you compared it on the screen, then yes it was different to the other ones, but surely everyone is different to everyone, and it didn't seem that different. If you were a gait specialist you could probably pick it up because you study it all the time, but aren't psychiatrists/psychologists supposed to look out for this in their diagnoses?
Anyway, cool software they have. :D

I thought the computerised imaging they had was cool and would like to try it myself. Once a doctor said I waddled like a duck  so I wouldn't mind seeing what that looks like.

Yes, it would be interesting to see one's actual gait on a screen that way. I always take notice of how people walk. My husband walks very gracefully and runs gracefully as well. I seem to lead with one leg and drag the other. I don't bend my knees enough when I walk. If I think about it, I can walk in a way that is more eye appealing and which displays a sense of confidence, but I have to make a conscious effort to walk that way. I tend to take small steps when there's really no need to. I don't know how I got into the habit of walking like that.
I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. Dylan
