I am planning on catching every minute of the Palin-Biden debate. It should be interesting on both sides...

I wish I could attend it since it'll be right here in St. Louis on the main campus at WashU.

But I'll be watching it on tv.

I'll probably DVR it so I can pause and rewind when I want to laugh again.

I don't know if anyone else saw Saturday Night Live and Tina Fey's impression of Sarah Palin, but it has me cracking up. More so because she used Sarah Palin's own words:

The rest of SNL was bad - really bad, but this was worth it.

Here's the whole skit on the NBC website: http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/ ... en/704042/

Amy Poehler drives me nuts with her Katie Couric blinking, but otherwise it is pretty funny.

You know, I could almost understand Palin not responding specifically to Katie's question about supreme court decisions, she may be so gun-shy right now she's afraid to give a wrong answer (although in my gut it's because she doesn't KNOW any more decisions...); however, when she couldn't answer the questions about what newspapers or magazines she'd read............come on!

I'm planning popcorn and juice for tonight's show....

Joe Biden has his moments as well - he's made some pretty bad gaffes here and there, and if I hear about his plan being forced down with the 3 star general again - where he fails to mention that SNOW forced it down........

I can't believe it. Palin actually CROSSED HER EYES. I said "wtf?" and looked over at my mother and asked, "Did she REALLY just cross her eyes?!?!"

That woman was so well-rehearsed last night... Too bad she's a crappy actor.

I just found it interesting that she didn't answer most of the questions. She kept turning it back to one of her talking points.

One of her oh-so-memorized talking points.

I couldn't help but laugh at the constant "talking to hockey/soccer mom" routine. As if sport obsessiveness means anything. Of course she is trying to portray that she is "one of them", but to my unblinkered eyes it does not work. After all, Ahmadinejad is a complete football (soccer) fanatic. And he too succeeded in using soccer to boost his reputation, by removing a ban on women being allowed to watch matches, despite previously being hard against it. The reason - it was a way to appeal to the female masses and get their support, in the troubled times of international pressure. He even goes and meets the women's team.

If nothing else told you she cram studied for this - the fact that she knew and correctly pronounced the Iranian leader's name (which I shall not even attempt here  ); even McCain couldn't pull that off!

I liked especially the non-answer she started with talking about "cyclical" changes, but then spent her remaining time talking in circles, simply restating the question....

The McCain camp is just tickled pink she didn't fall flat on her face, for this they count it as a victory.

I think it was clear though that Obama's side pushed Joe Biden to be more "homey"; for every "up there in Alaska" Palin through, Biden returned with a "back in Scranton (Wilmington, etc...); but I still can't believe anyone thinks Palin actually WON the debate overall.

Furthermore, personally I didn't believe either one of them when they said they were behind giving equal civil rights/liberties to same sex couples. And the agreement on the marriage thing felt, well, very fake...especially when Palin did her usual and first repeated the question.

I don't think we learned anything about either candidate from this though....

I went to dinner with my parents and grandparents today. I asked them what they thought of Sarah Palin and they all liked her. I was exceptionally disturbed.

I couldn't decide whether to laugh or to cry for most of that conversation.

I think I'm going to have to have more dinners with my mom though and try to provide her with more facts about Obama though. She's actually considering voting for McCain because Obama "doesn't have enough experience."

Yeah - and I bet Sarah Palin can barely spell "potato." I'm sure she's perfect for the job.

Brilliant! So much so that I'm taking the liberty of moving it to a place of honor.

But you can bet she can spell "moose". LOL

I was on the website for our local news at http://www.kcbd.com and was not really surprised to find the poll for who you think won the debate shows Palin ahead, 2 to 1. I've yet to see an Obama bumper sticker (the "NObama" one doesn't count...) or yard sign in this town. This shouldn't surprise me. I've met some of these people.

I can't believe that prior to the debate last Thursday, reporters were ACTUALLY discussing whether it's NECESSARY for the possible-future-vice-president of the United States to have knowledge about history and political systems!

I just sat there wide-eyed in utter disbelief. --This should not be a point of open debate! Hell, this shouldn't even be a question!

YES, THE SECOND HIGHEST RANKING GOVERNMENTAL OFFICIAL SHOULD HAVE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HISTORY AND POLITICAL SYSTEMS!!!

Sometimes I'm absolutely astonished at people's ability to walk and talk when clearly only their brain stem is engaged. Does no one have critical thinking skills anymore?

I don't even believe Palin could handle being governor of a state with a large population - places like New York, Florida, even Texas - much less being commander in chief.

How do people in Michigan feel when McCain says basically I'm giving up on you? I think even if I was a die hard republican I'd vote democrat after that. And what person of presidential quality gives up like that ? Because he couldn't win? Well heck there's no real "winning" in Iraq but he's all on full speed ahead for that....
