I've just registered and haven't had time to view the site. I can say that it is a visual pleasure and seems very well organized and user friendly. I am hoping to find gestalt free of sexism, racism, ageism and all other forms of hateful, injurious negativisms. I have a feeling that this site will be a place where those things will not be permitted to take root and flourish. I believe I have Asperger's Syndrome and am currently being evaluated while in the process of psychoanalysis. It is a very exciting period of my life. I am learning something new about myself everyday and becoming better acquainted with my unconscious through dream-work. I am also working on becoming more aware of my body, its existence and its needs. My goal is to become a fully conscious, fully alive, creative human being.
I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. Dylan

Thanks, Adhoc. I haven't finished reading everything, but it seems to be a site I will be comfortable posting in and contributing to.

Oh, btw, during your readings if you find anything that's out of date, especially links, just lemme know and I'll fix it. Some of the links are about as old as the site and websites come and go so often. :)

Thanks. Yes, it is. It's Saint Cecilia, patron of music. Legend has it that she was not really a gifted musician, yet she is always portrayed at the organ or sometimes with a stringed instrument which name I can't recall, perhaps a harp.

Thanks for the tip about outdated material. And thanks to all who welcomed me.

Hi Ruth, welcome to Gestalt :D

I'm anything but a gifted musician... but I like to compose (I have some of my music on my MySpace page). Do you play or compose music at all. I ask because of your lovely Avatar... the subject of it :D

Hello Noctivagus. Thanks for the welcome. I will check out your page.
I do play the piano, but I am far from gifted. I also have composed a few things, starting first with the lyrics and then working them into a melody. I play for my own enjoyment, love to sing, but I was told at an early age that I couldn't carry a tune and I wound up believing it, so am very reluctant to sing or play the piano in front of anyone. I do have a good ear and can pick up the elements of a tune and the chord progression. My daughter plays the violin, had a few lessons in grammar school but is mostly self taught and very good at it. She has an excellent ear and a beautiful voice. We use to play together when she was much younger, and sometimes still, when we get together for a special occasion we play, mostly Bob Dylan tunes. To hear her singing "Creep" by Radiohead would send chills down your spine.

I've always been obsessed with movies... and so my musical tastes are mainly to do with movie scores... especially those by Jerry Goldsmith and Bernard Herrmann. I hobby composed for many years and then, in 2000 I composed a hobby score to Alfred Hitchcock's movie 'The Birds' (which doesn't have a musical score).

I was trying to get my own movie off the ground in 2002 and so, in return for an artist working on my movie, I offerred my musical services for his student movie. He heard my score to 'The Birds' and was very impressed. I have scored several shorts and 4 Feature-length movies since then... all micro-budget though. Only one of the features got distribution... hence why there isn't much on my IMDb page :D

I had piano lessons as a child, but my teacher retired and my folks couldn't afford a new teacher of the same quality. Thus I do not claim to be able to play a musical instrument (not least because I'm arthritic now)... but I fortunately know my way around the keyboard :D

Let me know what you think of the music on my MySpace... even if you hate it :D
