DS just told me he wants a new backpack and a certain video game for Xmas. I may have to go online for the backpack this time of year. I don't want to spend $30 or more at a camping type store.

I'm very bummed bc his original backpack had some good years left in it but no one made an effort to find it after it was stolen. I was scoffed at bc someone else lost an iPod. Well maybe they should have had rules against bringing it to school like we did! Errrr....

Hopefully he'll enjoy the new backpack even more than the other one. :)

Camping backpacks are often on sale this time of year here.

Maybe you can find a good deal.

I checked Walmart today and nothing good. We have a Gander Mtn, an outdoorsy place, surely they will have some. I'll just feel very odd man out shopping there. My chair isn't exactly all terrain...

Can't do something from the internet? May get a better price that way.

I'm looking but with shipping, ugh!!

I just purchased a six month subscription to All You magazine on Amazon for $6!

It's a magazine chock full of coupons but only sold at Walmart or by subscription. I'm saving about $10!

I bought some new work uniforms. Good price and good deal with with the embroidery. Only problem is they are not here yet and the company are not very forthright with what is happening - I had to contact them after a week to find out what was happening as they had not requested my logo, and then a few days ago again because I hadn't got the proof (which to be fair was in the post and arrived a few hours later - the guy that does it had been away so he was getting through a backlog). So it has been about 4 weeks now, and I *should* get them some time next week!!!

I want to buy an ipod dock with speakers for my husband. Anybody have any experience with an inexpensive one that's pretty good? I can look at reviews but I figured someone here probably has one.

He keepls playing the Smile album over the tinny speakers on his ipod. It's driving me nuts. And then he gets mad when I say it sounds horrible, even though I'm not actually talking about the music itself.

My bet is that goddess' son might have a good idea. ;) Me, alas, I do not.

Are the dock/speakers going to be a Christmas present for hubby?

Speaking of Christmas, yesterday Manny and I went into a Seiko jewelry shop after lunch, but we were actually drawn in by the clocks they had there. It's a line by the company and it's called "Melodies in Motion". They're AWESOME mechanical musical wall clocks. We fell in love. I really thought Manny was going to buy one right then and there, so when he pulled me away from the counter I was somewhat surprised we hadn't walked out with a clock in toe. But we get outside and he says to me, "I want to see how much they are on Amazon!" Ah... I've trained him well. Brings a tear to my eye.

Here's a video of the clock we want to get for the house, and truly for the sheer size and all the mechanics, they're extremely well priced ($319 on Amazon for this one):

I loved them so much that I've asked him to get me one for Christmas as well, so I can have it at the apartment (and in my study later when we're living together). This is it:

My brother has an iPod dock, but I can't remember which one and I can't really comment on how good it is because he rarely listens to his iPod or iPhone on it. He listens to his phone out loud all over the house but rarely seems to in his room (then he watches music channels/TV, instead, usually). I know he bought one from Asda that didn't work and he had to return it but I'm not sure if he got another from Asda or elsewhere. I don't have an iPod...

Sophist, those clocks are cool!

Aren't they? :D I talked with Manny some more today: we may be putting off clock-purchasing until after the condo sells. Carrying two mortgages right now is just too expensive. But someday...
