It is really unusual. I think it was maybe set out to be more like a one-off Sunday thing, which they do sometimes (they'll show a programme that is a bit longer but only has two parts). Sherlock is 90 minutes long, which is longer than usual, but that's still only 4.5 hours altogether per season. 24 episodes would be GREAT.

Just think if Sherlock ran for 24 episodes per season.

Lately some of our seasons have been exceptionally short. Last year In Plain Sight and a few others were only 6 episodes long. This year Criminal Minds started late Sept but there's only been maybe 6 new episodes in all that time.

There's a new AbFab on BBCAmerica tonight!

We'll just have to write to the BBC and demand that they extend it to 24! :cutie:

6 episodes?? damn, that's unusual for American tv. Of course, I guess the length of seasons varies depending on whether it's on cable or a regular channel. Regular channels have longer seasons I'd imagine. Recently, Manny and I really got into a couple favorite shows they had up on Hulu: Grimm, Once Upon a Time, and American Horror Story. AHS which is on cable has finished its season. For anyone who likes horror flics, this one's awesome.

We've also been enjoying Misfits which for some reason is playing on Hulu despite being a Brit show. Spy is also good and is on Hulu.

Modern Family and Psych are another couple of our favorites. And then on Netflix, we've gotten into Sons of Anarchy; I was surprised that I really like it.

R was considering writing to them to beg them to make more seasons/episodes because I'm so obsessed with it she fears being forced to re-watch the same few episodes over and over and over.

Misfits is amazing! Along with Sherlock that's most definitely one of my favourite programmes. As for American television I love Big Bang Theory (R actually has a massive crush on Sheldon which I think is mostly because we're very similar  ) and Modern Family.

You might also enjoy Grimm if you can find a way to watch it.

How many seasons is Misfits into? Hulu is slowly loading the third season onto its website. With British shows I'm never sure whether they're as recent as the American shows which are generally on Hulu the day after they air.

The third season finished airing here about a month ago, so it's not too far behind. I was wary of the third season because of a character leaving, but it turned out okay. I was also wary of a new character joining the main group, and that turned out fine as he's actually one of my favourite characters now. I'm not sure if you heard of/saw 'Made In England', but the guy who plays Woody is in season three (as a character called Rudy).

I'm not sure if I've even heard of Grimm, but I'll try to check it out. I've also had American Horror Story recommended to me. Is that any good? I don't know where to watch either of those programmes on TV, so maybe I'll have to find a way to watch them online (I don't usually watch things online).

Yeah, not sure where you can watch the US series, but I highly recommend American Horror Story.

I've continued enjoying Misfits, but Manny keeps complaining because he still misses the other guy. I think the new guy's funny and he's also different from the other guy. But Manny has issues with change. ;)

I'm the same. I had huge issues with him at first, purely because he was new (the case most of the time with TV shows as well as real life). Thing is, I actually started off really disliking Nathan, then really liked him (he's really funny). So Rudy came along and I was thinking, "First of all, why the new guy, secondly why is he ONE OF THEM?" It took a while for me to come around, and I'm not sure exactly how he won me over, but some lines of his are really amazing.

I don't want to mention anything in particular because I don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen it, but there's an episode where they need to kill a cat and Rudy says he'll do it 'cause he hates cats anyway, but then can't do it, "You can't kill a cat. It's out of order, innit?" After they've killed all those probation workers.

Yeah, he's definitely growing on me. I think Manny's still not convinced, because with the first two seasons he'd always say that, "The funny guy makes the show", and then he was gone.

We haven't seen the cat episode yet. We've watched up to episode three on season three. Although I see #4 is up on Hulu now. We'll be watching that one this weekend. :D

I didn't recognise him as Woody at first so I'm not sure whether it was when I realised it was the same guy that I started liking him (Woody's very likeable, if you've not seen This is England (the film or the TV programmes).

No, I didn't recognize him. What's the other program about?

Well first of all the film came out. It's a Shane Meadows film (he's quite famous, but I'm not sure whether he's as well known in America as he is here?), set in 1983. The basic gist is that a 12 year old boy gets befriended by a group of skinheads. I don't know what I can really say without giving too much away, but basically he then falls into being friends with a racist skinhead (the group aren't racist) and things go kind of wrong.

The programmes were a kind of follow-on story. First there was This Is England '86, and more recently there was This Is England '88. There's also going to be a This Is England '90, I think.

I was looking around YouTube last night and discovered the BBC did two series on the Amish in PA that I've never seen aired here. They were about Amish who got shunned for basically reading the bible in English and following it. Pretty interesting.
