Absolutely Fabulous

Postby goddessoflubbock on Sun Jan 01, 2012 9:56 pm

The folks on another forum were saying they've made 2 new AbFabs? One was on Christmas Eve, one on NYE. There may be a third, out around the Olympics. The are on BBC America.

Supposedly Saffie went to prison?!

Has anyone else heard/seen about this?

Yeah, R's been watching it. She was really excited about it. I'm not that fussed about AbFab, so I didn't really pay attention, though.

I have a multiregion DVD player, so I bought AbFab from the UK for a pittence of the price here in the US. One thing I've realized is that, in general, US DVD's are way more expensive. Granted, you may need to time it right while the dollar's a wee bit stronger, but still. I bought a season of Doc Martin for under 10 GBP while it's well over $30 here.

I'm guessing that you can't watch the new episodes on the BBC website? If not it might be worth checking Youtube every now and then to see if they've been uploaded on there.

That's a good idea, although I look forward to when they're put on DVD. I bet they'll be bloody expensive for awhile though.

If you just mean the new ones, it might not take too long? I've been waiting for the new series of Sherlock for a while, and it just started showing on New Years day, but the DVD is already available for pre-order on play.com. If you mean a complete boxset, I don't know... There are quite a few old series I'd like to get but the price has put me off. Before xmas I could have got OFAH for £40 but since then it's gone up by at least a fiver and that put me off of buying it because I resented missing out on the £40! Although I still might...

The new Sherlock is excellent. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I've watched a couple episodes on Netflix. But then again, Sherlock in any light is awesome. We just went to see the new one out in theaters over Christmas.

I mean the BBC series? Three 90 minute episodes per season? Benedict Cumberbatch plays Sherlock Holmes, and Martin Freeman plays John Watson? I'm obsessed with Sherlock Holmes anyway, but that's my favourite Sherlock thing at the moment.

I haven't seen the new Sherlock Holmes film, yet. I don't much like the cinema, and I haven't been well, but I do want to see it at some point, obviously.

I've just replayed Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper on Xbox 360, and The Testament of Sherlock Holmes should be coming out quite soon and I'm desperate to play that.

I also got two copies of the new Sherlock Holmes book (House of Silk), one from my parents and one from my brother, but as I'm still reading the short stories at the moment (interrupted again by illness making me too dizzy to read the print) I haven't been able to start it.

And this is my input because I know nothing about AbFab, really, despite studying it in Media Studies alongside Men Behaving Badly. Well obviously I do know something about it but haven't seen the new ones, which is what this thread was about!

Have you tried downloading AbFab? I get a lot of British television from news groups and torrents.

Yep, that's the one. :D

Do they have Sherlock v. Ripper on Wii? Is it good on XBox? Aury has a Wii; now that could be a game I'd really get into. Detectives versus serial killers: how cool is that? :mgreen:

It's quite slow as there's lots of dialogue, but I really enjoyed it. You have to visit different people and talk to them, and then use the map to travel about and find clues and do puzzles. There are little side story bits that help you to find out who Jack the Ripper is. It's really cleverly done, I think. I could happily replay it! Some of the voice acting is a bit off, but that can be quite funny rather than too annoying.

It's only available on Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows, I think. But it's part of a sort of series of games, some of which are available on different consoles (I have Sherlock Holmes: Mystery of the Mummy on DS, and I think that's available on Wii - from what I remember, I enjoyed this game, but it's not as good as SH vs JTR, as it's much simplified, although I don't know what it's like on Wii),

I have to wait until May for The Testament of Sherlock Holmes. This will also be available n PS3. Almost all of the games are available for PC, but I think there might be one that's only on DS. The Testament of Sherlock Holmes looks more like SH vs JTR, though. :)

Gutted to know that, having already seen one/three episodes of the BBC's Sherlock, there's only two left. I watched it twice. It was even better the second time around! I really hope there'll be a third season. Three episodes per season is just not enough!

That's really unusual for there only to be three episodes. I know the usual 6 or so on BBC seems really short for Americans, since most of our seasons go so looooong. Usually at least 13 or so, if not up to 24.

Just think if Sherlock ran for 24 episodes per season.
