November: What's happening in your world?

Postby goddessoflubbock on Mon Nov 01, 2010 6:18 am

I love November. It finally gets reliably cooler here - it was 85 fahrenheit yesterday - and after next weekend nightfall comes very early.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday - no expectations but good food!! And then it's on to DS bday then Christmas!!

But I get ahead of myself. It's November!! ;)

It is getting cooler here and the leaves are turning orange and yellow, but my roses keep growing new blooms. I need to do some weeding, but after this, I doubt there will be too many weeds until next spring. I am going for a walk on the beach this morning and taking a hat and gloves.

For the last few days I have been eating a low residue diet in preparation for my procedure on Thursday. The best acceptable meal has been egg noodles or fresh egg pasta, with a little butter and soy sauce or with cream, lemon and black pepper. (I'm not looking at the burger thread :nono: but I am definitely going to pig out once this is over ).

It's mainly fruit and veg that I've to avoid. I can have white pasta or rice or bread, but not wholegrain.

Regular pasta is low in fiber, thus avoiding "bulk". Which probably causes other problems if followed for too long :/

Just about 5 mins before dark the doorbell rings. It's a guy from the roofing company who says he's here to fix the roof. In the dark. But this is the extent of his english. Neither of my fluent comments (pay up or you're going to jail; those boots are so gay) fit here.

He put some caulk on a few spots, that was it...

I'll be house sitting for 3 weeks starting tomorrow and going to a Dylan concert in the middle of the month. Three of my children, one of my grandchildren and my sister have birthday's in November. And tomorrow I get up early, go to vote. No plans yet for Thanksgiving, but everyone loves to come here so I suppose they will, hope they will. I'm tired of the standard fare and same old same old, so I think I'll try to come up with something unusual and fun.
I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. Dylan

In re-reading my post, I'm not sure if your comment is directed at why the roofer showed up or the sheer illiteracy I displayed

The comments I referred to I meant to say were the only things I could say reliably fluently in Texlish - making the assumption everyone knows I'm in TX so the guy didn't speak French

As for the whole roof repair scenario - I dunno. His parting words (I recently learned) were - it won't leak now, but if it does just call us.

It would be funny, if it weren't my ROOF...ugh! The insurance adjuster hasn't even come out yet, I've been waiting on callbacks, finally I get an email from soneone I typically talk to daily and she said my phone isn't working!

Does it somehow know I was eligible for an upgrade today? Well someone needs to tell it I don't have the $$...

Nah, my "wtf" was for the roofer. ;)

I am at my wit's end with ppl right now.

My health insurance, ugh. I called last Wednesday to ck on my cpap approval and they needed a copy of the sleep study. I called the drs office and got it done, called ins on Thursday and they had it. Called this Monday (the first) and was told it was entered on Friday, to give 24-48 hours so it should be done Tuesday. I wait an extra day (bc I'm nothing if not patient LOL) and I'm told it's still pending. When I get a bit agitated I'm told Medicare gives them 14 days so it could be as late as Friday next (the implication clearly being let it alone or it *will* be 14 days. I reminded them that the renewal period is upon us so I can change carriers (esp since prescriptions are covered now).

I am so apoplectic about the situation I can't even discuss the roof OR my homeowner's right now!!

We did get the Halloween stuff put up. Gone is my friend the glow in the dark skeleton, the witches, brooms, and pumpkins with faces. A few simple harvest/thanksgiving type things are all that's left.

Heaven forbid an insurance company does anything in a timely fashion but collect your money.

That's actually another problem. Since I became eligible in August I've had my premiums directly deducted by social security. They pull out for Part B, I figured one less bill for me, let them pull out the premium. Which they have. Yet every month I get a bill from the insurance. I was told to ignore them, ss is a slow payer but they get it. Ok. This month the bill comes in a yellow envelope. Color is bad on envelopes. Yep, it says I'm 90 days delinquent, it's going on my credit report, etc. They were not pleased when I said I'm switching to self-pay so that if it is late I know why....
