Tonight I think DS got a handle on it. His paycheck was screwed up so he had to talk to her about it and he was pretty jizzed bc he wants his money

She stayed awhile after, he did great and even got a tip, so she saw him as he usual does - which is AMAZING! If I do say so myself ;)

I have a new obsession! LOL. On my iPod I have a free Kindle app and I just found out about all these free books (not just Shakespeare, ER al). Newer books, some only released for digital uses. I read Blood Money, all about Philadelphia lawyers and such which was nice bc I could picture the places and figured out who the characters really were! So I've downloaded a few more ;).

I was always a big reader but can't really hold a book now bc of my hands so the iPod is perfect!

I've been sort of down but I'm doing what I can to keep my head above water, so to speak. The construction outside has been driving me a bit mad and I've been living in noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs. My downstairs neighbor has taken to playing loud bass in the evenings which doesn't help. He didn't do this the first couple of weeks so I'm hoping his son is visiting and doing it or something as I saw a kid with him the other day going in. I guess time will tell. I don't want to have to be "that neighbor" that bugs them about noise : / .

My friend/former roommate has been going through a tough time and recently revealed that to me. I had known she was stressed about moving but I didn't realize the other things that were going on or how bad off she'd been. I'm worried about her and hope once she gets all of her furniture and her husband at her new place things will look up a bit, but the issues may run deeper than that. Another friend here has recently had her father pass away, he'd been sick for some time. She's still away with her family and I am checking on her cats for her while she is gone, I'm not sure when she will be back.

On a lighter note I really need a haircut, and as usual am putting it off because I have no idea what to do with it. My hair has gotten really long again because I've neglected it (it also grows really fast!). I'm not sure if I just want a trim to keep it in better shape or if I want to cut it short again.

I've been procrastinating on getting a hair cut too since I've just been wearing it in a ponytail since last summer. Oh well.

Somehow I managed to NOT be the procrastinator!! I went yesterday and got my hair cut again. I love this short hair sooo much I don't want to let it get too long! The girl didn't cut it quite short enough, but it took forever and since they are learning I let it go. I'll be back in 6-7 weeks to get the kids back to school cuts :gasp:

DD came but didn't get her hair cut. The lady at the counter said "no trim for you little man"? I thought she was going to clock the lady! Instead she stood up, stuck out her chest and said Excuuuse me?! ROFL. She'd been sitting hunched over reading a book ;)

I really hate getting my haircut, having to do the small talk thing with the hairdresser the entire time, having to explain what you want them to do, having to stare at myself in the mirror, all the hair product smells, basically the whole experience! Plus, it is pricey. I've found a place that did a decent job the past few times I've been and they are median-level priced. Going to Supercuts has been a disaster for me in the past as they don't seem to know how to cut wavy/curly hair. I will go back when I figure out what to do with my hair, I suppose. When it gets hot (we're in the midst of a heat wave) it's tempting to just cut it all off but I'm not sure if in the long run that's what I'd prefer or look best with. Do you like the short hair because it's easier to manage, Goddess? For me I find short hair actually a little harder to manage than long because the waves go whatever way they want and I have to tame them in the right direction.

Do you have a cosmetology school near you Civet? That's where I go, it's $5 bucks for wash, cut, and blow dry!

The folks there tend not to talk to you much bc they are learning, so they are concentrating. The teacher is always milling around, and give your hair a final check, and makes sure you are happy. It takes a tad bit longer but worth it to me!

My original reason for getting it cut supershort was the osteoarthritis in my hands made hair care near impossible. DH was combing it every day. But I fell in love with it. I've had long hair since I was a teenager, crying if my mom cut it too short (which was still long).

On top of everything the curls I thought were gone from babyhood have returned! On the rare humid day we have I can't even comb them down ;)

I don't think there is a cosmetology school nearby, just about every other kind, though, heheh. I've made an appointment at the place I've gone the last couple of times for tomorrow, decided for now that I will not get it cut short, more like medium length. It sounds like short hair is really for you, though, Goddess : )

Yesterday was my oldest daughters birthday, she turned 31! Makes me feel ancient, heading into the home stretch to 50. Just to make sure I know, I got an AARP subscription letter in the mail :/

I'm going to color my hair blonde this week, I got really good John Frieda for free ;)

As you probably already know, the heatwave in the States & the deluge we've been having are due to the jetstream, which isn't in it's usual place. Not that knowing that's much use! They don't seem to have much idea why it's not in the same place it usually goes, either.
The answer to the question "what is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything" is - what is the question!?

Climate changes I'd imagine. Just rest assured that no matter how hot it may get now, earth is heading for an ice age. Having learned more about changes in the earth's climate over millions of years, I've noticed there's a constant fluctuation from stability (which is largely what the human species has experienced for the last couple hundred thousand years) to instability which inevitably seems to plunge the world into yet another ice age.

Ironic that, despite that I truly believe human behaviors are the straw that broke the camel's back with regards to air pollution, we are simply hastening on the inevitable. In however many years (by which time I plan to be long, long dead) the earth will change irreparably, and a large number of the species as we know them will be wiped away, just as life has always been spunged away. Come and go.

For some reason, knowing this is an inevitable cycle and the earth that we think of as so "constant" only appears that way up close, in the span of thousands, tends of thousands, and hundreds of thousands of years, is somewhat comforting. In truth, it's very tumultuous. And right now, the probability is not in our favor to even live a smidgen the length of time the dinosaurs lived on this little planet.
