Comments/Tangential Topics/Etc.

Although Sophist said we could comment on people's case studies in their threads, I don't think we could keep it enough on topic :D

So I wanted to say that in renaeden's last entry on Empathy, I feel pretty much exactly the same way! I was going to write about empathy in my own case study, inspired by her entry, but realised it would pretty much be a cut-and-paste :D So I'm going to have to think a bit more about whether I really AM the same and work out what I would want to say myself.

I also really liked Sophist's rice story. I don't know why I liked it, I just did :) I think it was good you wrote it, Sophist.

It's quite frustrating when people write things that you forgot to include, though.

I know I could go back and edit those posts where I spoke to relevant things, but... I don't know... it's just nicer to get it 'perfect' the first time!

This is a good idea for a thread. I'm going to move it to Case Studies so we can comment and post to our heart's delight on each other's threads without bringing the actual case studies threads on our tangents. ;)

But I think this would be good also to have in the Case Studies section itself too.

I hope you don't mind, beware. I will rename it "tangents" or something.

Almost had another brown rice tantrum last night. I made rice, we had purchased some Chinese toppings (peppered beef and onions) and I wanted to poor it all over the rice and mix it all up. My mother just wanted to dish out some rice and then scoop out a little topping. I started getting frustrated. I was so relieved that she only had one serving and then she let me poor the topping all over the rice to store it, heh.

So silly...

That's cool. I was thinking of putting it in here, but I wasn't sure if it would be confusing or if it wasn't appropriate. :)

Thank you. :)

I felt that I didn't write enough, though. That is a big subject and hard to put into words. But then I can always add more later. I think I may do that with the other posts I have made as well.

I showed the thread to a lady at the Autism Association while I was there and she read some of my entries and said she liked the way they were written. That made me feel good.

I really like your newest post too, renaeden - on eye contact. I think you are very good at writing about these things! :)

Thank you! :D
It did take me a while - a lot of sitting back in my chair and thinking about it.

I have been trying to think of what other people see as the "mysteries of autism" and that is what I have come up with so far. I really do hope many people come on here and post/ask questions.

Sophist, what you wrote about your mum:
Sophist wrote:On my mother's side, my mother has some autistic traits but nowhere near a diagnosis. She has lesser obsessional interests, she is intelligent, and is also an anxiety-prone person. But she's definitely a lot better with social stuff than I am.

You could be writing about my mum!

It's funny though, I scored in the excellent range in that Mind in the Eyes Test of B-C's, but my mom scored in the poor range.

My thoughts on empathy differ somewhat to Renaeden and Sophist's but I had to leave my laptop and got timed out so I lost my post.

ahh, bugger :( hopefully you'll feel like typing it out again (unless you already have done and I haven't seen it yet) because it will be interesting to hear another experience :)

I'll probably try it tomorrow.

I also wanted to write one about my experiences at work, but I'm not really sure what to include and how to structure it, so that might take some time.

Yeah, I'd imagine there are quite a few topics which could stem from your work experiences.
