I jread an article on the reviewing of the DSM 4, and they are eliminating the asperger's syndrome diagnosis? What, do you suppose they will call it now?

Not to be a cynical pessimist, but if they do want to cut services or whatever, they will.
The answer to the question "what is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything" is - what is the question!?

I just attended IMFAR, which is the international meeting for autism. There were several talks on the new DSM-5 changes, especially given that quite a few of the board members who designed the new criteria were attending the meeting and were able to give their views on some of the accusations.

Some of my concerns were quelled, others still remain and I think, in spite of the committee's best intentions, they won't know whether these changes will causes problems until they're in use out in the communities.

Ed Ritvo raised concerns about changing the criteria which would effect research, changing how we define "autism", which are reasonable concerns. Unfortunately, the committee seemed dismissive. I guess we'll find out...
