Trip to Denmark Pictures (WARNING 32 photos)

I hope that all these pictures do not mess anyone up or take too long to load.

The journey from start to finish took over a day in all, including the 5hr stay in Flensburg, just inside Germany, whilst we waited for a hypermarket to open, plus a 2hr wait for the ferry to our final destination of the island of Lyø from Faaborg. A couple of pictures of the views from the ferry one some of the crossings we made are below:

(technically not much of a view, but I like this one looking at the wake made at the side of the ship)

Some pictures of Faaborg:

And some of Lyø:

From our trip to the island of Møn:

Our horse and wagon trip around Lyø (our friends own this and give trips to tourists around the island):

Me and my dad. Why did I include this one? I look horrible. :?

And finally.... some of the very boring borders we crossed:
Image
France into Belgium (on the outward journey - the rest are from the return)
Image
Denmark into Germany
Image
Germany into Netherlands (just after the blue sign)
Image
Dunkerque ferry port (OK the ports are not quite borders)

And finally back in Dover at 2am (with the famous white cliffs in the background)

Looks like a nice place to visit. I liked the photo of the rocks (Møns Klint).

Apparently Møns Klint is one of the highest points in Denamrk as well. Just shows you how flat the country is.

Great pictures. It looks to be a very serene place surrounded by great natural beauty. I would love to visit Denmark. Home of my beloved: Kierkegaard. Also, I have recently been greatly interested in Hans Christian Anderson because I had a dream in which he and one of his tales, The Emperor's New Clothes, figured prominently. Speaking of clothes, I noticed that your dad's friend is wearing a hat exactly like my husband's. My husband's hat was a gift from our exchange student from Kazakhstan. I love looking at pictures. 32 is not too much for me. :D

Oh dear - I just spotted a mistake which I must correct else I will be shamed for all eternity. Re: the last picture. We got back into Dover at about 1am, not 2am. The ferry was scheduled to leave Dunkirque at 2358 (althouth it was about 15mins late leaving), and with an approx 1hr45 crossing time that would make it about 2am arrival.

However, we have got to then take into account that the UK is one of the 5 European countries (the other 4 european countries to be on the same time zone as us are Iceland, Ireland, Faroe Islands and Portugal [although the canary islands also use WET/WEST]) to be an hour behind France and the central european countries.

So we arrived back in the UK at about 1am local time. Sorry for the error...

Rather than give it a new thread, I think I will just bump this one, seeing as the subject is the same - a trip to Denmark, just only having the use of a better camera and it being one year on.

However, I am unfortunately very poor at choosing what photos are best/most relevant, so again there are a lot of them, all uploaded via photobucket, so sorry if they do not appear correctly but they are a pain to manage....

Anyway, what better way to start than with the first photo I took on the holiday, heading towards the apartment we were staying in for the first week, followed by the beach at Lønstrup and some at the Oceanarium:

Next up is just north of Skagen at Denmark's most northerly point, and where the Skagerrat and Kattegat meet. In the second pic you can see the waves crossing each other, but it is more evident in the video link. After that it is a visit to an old church, quite literally in the middle of nowhere!

The next day we went and saw a falcon/eagle display, and this is the first of my three endulancies with pictures!

When we left the holiday apartment we via the island of Fyr - the first picture was where we stopped for the old men to have a toilet break, the second is a view from the island.

My second huge batch of photos is of the sunset witnessed whilst waiting for the ferry to take us to the island where the friends live. It was hard to choose between some of them, so I went crazy and put more in :embarrassed: . The last 2 are from on board the ferry, and the quality is reduced due to it being a lot darker by then!

I thought I had better include some of the island again, taken from a walk around the NW coast and back to the centre, including some of and from the church.

On our final day we went out to Langeland (another island) with the island's Seniors Group. It was a bit strange as I was less than half the age of the next youngest person there and my dad would have been in the bottom 5 at aged 62! (The group size was 22 btw). First we went to a old bunker and base, before heading for lunch and then viewing the nearby wild horses (actually Exmoor Ponies). Finally we stopped of at a centre which was about the environment, ecology and the old way of life (thus the horse wagons) and based at a château/country house.

And so we come to the end (if anyone is still with me!) and the final batch post is of the sunrise this morning over the North Sea

Really great pictures. I especially love the sunset and sunrise shots. You are a very good photographer.

I did something silly though. I viewed all of your last year's pictures without realizing they were last year's pictures. I thought, "these pics are very similar to last years pictures. Hmmm, there's Charlie's Dad and his friend who is wearing the same hat he wore last year. I should tell Charlie that my husband has that exact same hat, but I think I already told him that last year." Then I got a little suspicious when I saw the horse's "arses" and said - wait a minute - and looked at the date. :oldlol:

Also, great new avatar you have. Very calming.

Ah the avatar. It is part of a photo I took at the aqaurium, which I call "angry fish". I actually meant to use a different, angrier looking fish from another photo but I didn't realise this until I had already changed it. I think I will try and post the other one here now as well

I had to wait until I got on my computer to view these - it would have frozen my blackberry for sure!

The pics are amazing. I've always been a water fiend, so the pics of the ocean are among my favorites. The little church was very pretty too.

Ditto on the pictures, you do have an excellent eye.

You know that website I use, fotocommunity, is great to use for displaying photography. Although there's a limit on the number of pics for a free account.
