The two stuffed animals you're referring to do have names, but their species is what's on the tags.. they are modeled after prehistoric mammals, the Leptictidium is the rodent-like fellow and the other is the Andrewsarchus (who is, surprisingly, most closely related to the horse). .....

Oh, that's an awesome idea! If I ever make a stuffed animal, I shall do an extinct and relatively unknown animal - that's SO much better than something everyone recognises ;) It would be even better to give it to someone as a gift and watch thm be VERY confused...

I hope you don't mind; I set it as my desktop background.

That one's gorgeous. I also liked The Fish and The Girl in the Glass.

Thanks, Sophist, hesperus, and Adhoc. That's one of my newer pieces, I'm really glad you like it, too, because it's the one I put on my promotional postcards this time around :).

Sophist- I don't mind you using it for your desktop, strictly personal use is ok with me. As long as you don't go posting it around other places or using it for your personal gain in some way without permission/credit stuff like that is fine with me. I doubt you'd do anything like that, anyway.

Sluagh- Thanks, haha.

I got the idea in one of my classes, the Andrewsarchus was actually a class project. It was a scientific illustration class so I had to think of something based in science, and I really wanted to make a stuffed animal since the project was our final project for the class and what we did was completely up to us (as long as it fit the specifications of the class). I did some research around and I also ended up getting into that series "Walking with Prehistoric Beasts," which came out not too long before I made my project. I created my own version, though, particularly with coloration (the patterns being hyena-inspired), because I didn't want to make a direct copy from the show.
